This might not be the first time you've seen Coin Through Glass. But it's definitely the version you'll actually use.

The Clear Principle variations

The Clear Principle:

A simple principle that removes every major limitation of one of close-up magic's favorite plots.

A truly impromptu, gimmickless, easy to perform coin through glass, for any occasion.

Adaptable to rings, keys, bottle caps, and almost any other small object you have on hand.

Coin through glass is a classic. It's a plot magicians have loved and chased for years, and for very good reason: nothing beats watching a solid object pass through solid glass, right in front of you.

But every version currently out there comes with a catch. They're not impromptu. They need elaborate setup. Or expensive gimmicks. Or finger-busting, expert-level sleight of hand skills. Or the mouth of the glass is left wide open, making the penetration less convincing. Or they only work with one very specific coin, bottle, or glass.

The Clear Principle removes every one of those problems...

The Clear Principle is a refreshing take on the coin/object through glass. It’s probably the closest version you can get compared to any gimmick version. Great job!

— Henry Harrius

Why this is the one you'll actually perform:

  • 100% impromptu. No gimmicks. No prep. Nothing to carry. Nothing to set up. Nothing to reset. Anytime there's a glass and a coin, or ring, or bottle cap, or key in front of you, you can pick them up and do the impossible. Nothing unusual is brought into play, and nothing feels out of place.
  • Easy to learn and perform. You'll be able to learn and start performing this within hours, and there are variations for every skill level. However much time you've got, and whatever level of magical proficiency you're at, there's a version of this that you can quickly drop in to your repertoire.
  • Everything can be examined. Because there are zero gimmicks involved, the moment the coin lands, spectators can immediately inspect the glass and the coin/object that passed through it.
  • Whatever's on the table in front of you, there's a method to make the most of it. A big glass or a tiny one, glass or plastic, plus a coin or a ring or a bottle cap, seated or standing, big hands or small. Add a shot glass or a credit card to the mix if you've got them, for even more impact.

This is a great breakthrough for impromptu magic! I really love this, it's one of those things every close-up magician will want to learn. I'm definitely gonna be practicing this move!

Danny Goldsmith Performance

A note from Danny:

I'd like to introduce you to Pham Huy, a magician from Vietnam whose thinking I've come to really admire.

As soon as he showed me this one simple principle, I could not stop playing with it. The more time I spent with it, the more I realized just how much it could do and how easy it is to learn, and I realized I needed to help him get this into the hands of magicians who will understand how powerful it is.

I ended up adding a number of my own handlings, alternate performances, and various ideas, and there's over an hour of my own teaching in this project.

I've seen a lot of coin through glass variations in my career. But I've never seen anything as practical as this.

This is one of those principles that, once learned, becomes something you carry with you for the rest of your life. You’ll always be able to perform a stunningly visual, impossibly clean coin through glass, with whatever objects you happen to have in front of you.

I genuinely think this is one of the best impromptu effects you will ever buy.

PERFORMANCE VARIATIONS

A variation for every occasion:

VARIATION 01 • GUEST FEATURE

Mads' Idea

A powerful variation from Mads Lundbek, the acclaimed creator behind Ellusionist's Outside the Box, plus Danny's additions to Mads' technique.

Danny got so excited about the variation Mads contributed, and then built his own variation of Mads' variation.

Even if this is the only handling you learn, you'll have a complete powerhouse piece in your hands, always ready to perform.

VARIATION 02

Glass on Table

This might be the closest to a gimmicked coin through glass effect in the entire project. Except there's still no gimmick.

All a spectator remembers is the glass sitting on the table, sealed, and an object pushed straight through the solid bottom.

It looks and feels completely hands-off. And like it couldn't possibly be sleight of hand.

VARIATION 03

Credit Card

One of Danny's personal favorites—and easily one of the most deceptively effortless handlings in the entire project. Once you understand the core principle, you'll be able to perform this almost immediately.

The conditions feel completely bulletproof: place a credit card over the mouth of the glass, turn it upside down, show it empty... and simply toss the coin straight through the solid side, plainly and visually.

Danny also teaches how to perform this as an impossible visual transposition, giving you two completely different powerhouse routines with everyday objects.

And these are only a fraction of the variations taught. There's so much more here to learn....

”
Rick Holcombe

Such a fun and versatile idea! I love when something so visual is also easy to do.

— Rick Holcombe

What else is inside:

Pham and Danny don't just give you the handlings. They break down how to make it reliable, hard-hitting, and as immersive as possible, wherever you are.

They'll also share:

✓
The order to practice in, from easiest to hardest
✓
Which glasses to choose, and which to avoid — size, shape, wall thickness, even patterned glass
✓
How to optimize the visual, including angles, sound, psychology, and other subtleties

Pop Coin Demonstration

Pop Coin

You explain that what looks clearly like just one coin is secretly several coins, pressed flat together. You clearly display the single coin, and cover it with a glass so it can't be touched. Warm it, breathe on it, and give it a second to cook... and it suddenly bursts into three coins, right there inside the glass, right in front of your spectators' eyes.

Coin Through Glass To Glass

  • Pham Huy's 'CTGTG' is a 100% gimmickless recreation of Bob Kline's legendary Copentro illusion: without any tricky preparation, a coin cleanly penetrates the base of an isolated glass and lands with a sharp click inside the inner shot glass.
  • You will learn three distinct handlings for this impossibility: two original handlings developed by Pham Huy, plus a variation contributed by his friend Binh Steal.

Pham Huy has created a true impromptu miracle with The Clear Principle. The idea that a magician can recreate the classic Bob Kline Copentro illusion without gimmicks is invaluable!

A PERSONAL NOTE

A Word From Pham Huy

This is my very first magic project, and I’ve poured my absolute heart, focus, and energy into making it something truly exceptional.

I spent countless hours at my desk testing all kinds of glasses—different shapes, sizes, and wall thicknesses. But it wasn't just glasses. I also experimented with all sorts of everyday objects: coins from small to large, rings, bottle caps, keys, and whatever miscellaneous items I could find, just to make sure every single moment looks truly magical without needing any gimmicks at all.

Getting to develop and share these handlings alongside Danny Goldsmith has been an amazing experience for me. I created The Clear Principle simply because I love this effect, and I wanted to share something real, zero-compromise, and genuinely practical with you.

I really hope you have as much fun performing it as I had creating it. Thank you so much for being here and checking out my debut project.

Its taken me quite a while to get through the material on the Clear Principle and play with it enough to write a review. I don't think I'm ready to perform it yet, but, I'll get there. First of all, if you didn't guess the "secret" of this thing from watching the trailer, then you're either fairly new to magic, or, maybe you've picked the wrong hobby. If you let the apparent simplicity of it keep you from studying it more, then you're cheating yourself. First of all, its not that simple even if it is just tiddlywinks. But, Its certainly learnable with practice and there are a couple of hours of "instructional video" that show how to execute the move(s) from all possible locations. Alas, this is all this video collection does. There is not one second of real life performance video in the entire thing. This may set up many aspiring magicians for failure, and why I think this product is for experts only. This is not a "Hey, you want to see some Magic?" kind of trick. You do not want to try this out in those challenging situations Danny warns about. You really want the audience on your side before trying this one, and/or you want it to come about organically. This is so much like The Breakthrough System in it's theory and practice, and it's need for expert audience control and management. TBS, at least, showed some more or less "real life" performances. One has to be a little suspect of a trick that has no evidence of ever actually being performed. However, because of my experience, I do see the enormous potential knowing these techniques brings to magicians willing to wait for the right moment.

As an 80 year old I enjoyed magic from the age of 4 with guidance from my grandfather. I was fortunate to join Staffordshire Magic Society as a teenager but had to put magic on the back burner as an engineering apprentice then in a hectic business life. Now I’m a recently new member of the Black Card Club and slowly learning how to perform again. Danny is a truly amazing magician, teaching excellent skills and techniques in his videos, something that didn’t exist when I was a youngster. A very lucky few had personal mentors in magic clubs but most had to make do with books and still photos or drawings to illustrate often complicated moves.
Danny has produced some of the best videos for learning highest quality magic skills, which, if followed and practiced diligently should enable the student to achieve the highest levels in quality magic.

Penetrate a drinking glass with any small object without any gimmicks or difficult sleight of hand! A miracle that you carry with you in your mind! The only hard part of this effect is finding a dry glass to use!

Excellent project, once you have it down it opens up so many possibilities for impromptu miracles.

I purchased The Clear Principal about a week ago. It looked like strong magic, so I wanted to give it a shot. It doesn't disappoint. The method is very good, and unique. It takes a little practice, as does everything else, and once you've got it down, you have a great effect. I like it too because there is not gimmick. I highly recommend buying it.

I love impromptu magic. This is a walk around miracle with so many variations. Any glass pretty much and make almost any small object appear out of thin air. Hits the big 3 1) easy, 2) always available 3) BIG reactions!
